Senior Cloud Engineer 

We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our International Core Team. The ideal candidate should have expertise in PHP and Java and possess a high-impact, high-intensity mindset, making them a valuable addition to our dynamic and highly productive team. Strong soft skills are essential, as the cloud team operates across multiple time zones, requiring effective communication and collaboration. 

Project – an industry-leading mobile app and Tile tracking devices provide members with powerful tools to protect what matters most—people, pets, and belongings. With features such as location sharing, safe driver reports, and crash detection with emergency dispatch 

Experience / Skills required: 

Must have: 

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar quantitative field or the equivalent industry experience 
• 8+ years of prior professional experience working on backend and Cloud code   
• 6+ years of working experience with PHP   
• 2+ years of experience working with Java   
• Diligent in implementing and supporting services that last outwards to a year 
• Proficient in microservices and horizontally scalable architectures   
• Adaptive to working on various aspects of the system for different teams  
• Communicate effectively with cross-platform teammates   
• Experience with high-scale, low-latency systems   
• Understand how to deploy and maintain systems, ideally with Kubernetes 
• Experience with these technologies will serve you well:  
• – Languages (PHP, Java and nice to have NodeJs, Python) 
• – Infrastructure (AWS (EC2, EKS), Docker, Terraform, Cloudwatch, Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog   
• – Databases: MySql, DynamoDB   
•  Experience with one of the queues: sqs, nsq, Kinesis, Kafka 
• Upper-Intermediate English and better

• Monitoring   

Responsibilities: 

• Support and extend existing microservices to support new product feature delivery 
• Create new API gateways to enable external integration (Example: Build the new vendor integration to spread existing/new features to new INTL regions)   
• Maintain and enhance localization infrastructure   
• Breakdown PHP monolith into standalone microservices   
• Horizontally scale the system to handle another 10+ billion events per day 
• Monitor health, suggest improvements for, and deploy services  
• Mentor other developers who are trying to grow   
• Build technical specs with Staff engineers  
• Handle on-call rotation and address live incidents 
• Help Test Engineers automate validating our components
