Senior Scala Engineer 

We are looking for a Senior Scala Engineer for our Client’s technical team with HQ in Berlin, specializing in regulatory technology (RegTech) and capital markets solutions for the finance industry. You will build and extend multi-tenant Financial Instruments Automation Platform (FIAP). Their offerings include real-time data analytics, independent financial instrument valuation, and issuance workflow automation. These solutions assist financial institutions in managing risks, automating workflows, and complying with regulatory requirements. They are processing hundreds of thousands of financial products on behalf of manufacturers, enabling them to automate their issuance production chain and product maintenance.

Requirements: 

• 5+ years of professional experience with Scala
• Experience with a Scala 3 functional stack like ZIO or Typelevel/Cats
• Experience in building containerized cloud applications with Kubernetes and AWS 
• Experience with building event-driven architecture (preferably with Kafka) 
• Solid understanding of NoSQL databases and relational databases like MongoDB and Postgres or similar 
• Quality advocate, experience with TDD 
• Fluent communication in English, German is a plus 
• Experience in working with agile methodologies in a cross-functional team 
• Motivated team player, keen to receive and give feedback in pairing and code review sessions 

Responsibilities: 

• Design and implement modern microservice applications 
• Maintain, develop and scale a microservice architecture of Scala and Java applications 
• Take ownership of your work and ensure high quality 
• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner and the Customer Success team 
• Work in an agile environment and an international team 
• Contribute to growing team members through providing guidance, mentorship 
• Participate in the team’s continuous improvement process
