Engineering Manager / Delivery Lead

We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master/Delivery Manager to join our client’s team, a US-based company developing technology for the tolling industry. This is a high-impact role where you will own the delivery process for a small senior engineering team and help build scalable delivery practices from the ground up.

The project focuses on mission-critical transportation infrastructure. The platform powers electronic toll collection systems that process millions of vehicles and financial transactions every day.

You’ll work closely with engineering leadership, Product Owner, QA and DevOps teams, ensuring projects move efficiently, risks are identified early, and delivery remains transparent across the organization.

Location: Remote
Working Hours: Full-time working hours aligned with the US Eastern Time Zone (New York)

Requirements

• 5+ years managing software teams and agile delivery as an engineering manager, delivery lead or technical project/program manager, with real accountability for people AND for shipping
• Experience directly managing remote engineers or consultants across time zones, and keeping them productive
• Technical credibility: a software engineering background or deep enough technical fluency that senior engineers respect your judgment.
• Strong Jira expertise (boards, workflows, dashboards, automation, reporting)
• Solid Agile knowledge (Scrum, Kanban, hybrid approaches)
• Experience working with distributed engineering teams
• Daily practical usage of AI tools to improve delivery workflows, reporting and planning
• Self-driven personality with strong ownership mindset
• Strong written and spoken English
• Strong overlap with US Eastern business hours

Nice to have

• Technical background or strong understanding of software development lifecycle
• Experience working with backend, cloud, DevOps and QA teams
• Startup or product company experience
• Jira Administration experience
• Familiarity with fintech, mobility, logistics, or data-heavy platforms

What You’ll Do

• Own delivery: run the process end to end, from PO requirements to QA sign-off. You are accountable for whether we are on track
• Make Jira the source of truth: own the boards, workflows, and ticket hygiene so status is accurate and current by default, legible to anyone from an engineer to the C-suite
• Own the schedule and program view: milestones, timelines, dependencies, and the critical path across backend, data, mobile, QA, and infrastructure. You know what is blocking what, and what happens if a date moves.
• Manage risk like it is the job: surface slippage, dependency risk, and capacity problems early, quantify them, and drive them to a decision or mitigation
• Remove blockers relentlessly: chase the dependency, escalate the decision, clear the path so engineers can build.
• Run the cadence, lightly: planning, standups, reviews, retros: enough structure to keep a distributed team aligned, and zero ceremony for its own sake
• Report status the C-suite can act on: clear, honest, concise updates on where we are, what is at risk, and what needs a decision, in business language
• Work AI-augmented: you direct AI across the delivery workflow: status synthesis, risk detection, reporting, meeting notes, backlog hygiene. You bring the judgment; the AI does the volume
